FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Victories in the top-two doubles flights and first-three singles flights Thursday night helped buoy the Farmingdale State College men's tennis team to a 6-3 victory in non-conference play against visiting University of Saint Joseph (Conn.).

The host Rams (8-3), winners in seven of their last eight, earned an 8-1 decision at top-flight doubles by senior Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Ryan Hendel (No. Merrick, N.Y.) against the Blue Jays' (8-7) Noah Rivera and Ryan Boucher, before FSC's Alan Sabovic (Jr.; Bohemia, N.Y.) and Muhammad Sawar (Sr.; Brentwood, N.Y.) picked up an 8-7 triumph at No. 2, 8-7, by virtue of a 7-2 score in the tiebreaker versus Marko Karpyuk and Patrick Gavrylchuk.

Baker, Sabovic and Hendel later won their first-through-third singles matches, respectively, against Rivera (6-0, 6-2), Karpyuk (6-1, 6-1) and Boucher (6-0, 6-2), with Farmingdale State sophomore Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) rounding out the hosts' scoring with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 6 flight against Gavrylchuk.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams now turn their attention back to Skyline Conference play on Sunday, when they travel to Purchase College for a 3 p.m. first serve.
