BRUNSWICK, ME | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team competed in the First Round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Championship on Friday afternoon, falling to Roger Williams University, 4-1, at Bowdoin College.
The Rams conclude the season with a 14-8 overall record after winning the Skyline Conference Championship and earning the program's fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth.
Roger Williams claimed the doubles point with victories at second and third doubles. Junior Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman Henri Pothier (Montgomery, N.Y.) fell 6-1 to Camden Poitras and Will Hurlbut at second doubles, while junior Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman Luke Plana (Bohemia, N.Y.) were defeated 6-1 by Iker Rodriguez Alcocer and Tucker Taylor at third doubles.
The first doubles match of sophomore Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) and freshman Devan Melandro (Syosset, N.Y.) against Bronson Desisto and Ryan Carroll was left unfinished at 5-1.
In singles play, Roger Williams secured victories at second, fourth and sixth singles to clinch the match. Ahmed fell to Carroll, 6-3, 6-1, at second singles, while sophomore Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) was defeated 6-1, 6-2 by Poitras at fourth singles. Junior Danial Zindani (Walden, N.Y.) dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Hurlbut at sixth singles.
Farmingdale State earned its lone point at fifth singles, where Pothier recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Om Seth.
At first singles, Melandro's match against Desisto was left unfinished with Melandro trailing a set, 4-6, 4-3. Agyeman's third singles match against Rodriguez Alcocer also went unfinished with Agyeman behind 3-6, 5-5.
