Men's Tennis Moves Past Brooklyn, 7-2

BROOKLYN | Led by a trio of doubles victories to start action Friday night at Roosevelt Tennis Courts, the Farmingdale State College men's tennis team moved to 2-2 on the 2022-23 campaign with a 7-2 non-conference win at Brooklyn College.

The visiting Rams started play with triumphs in all three doubles flights, including an 8-3 victory by senior Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Ryan Hendel (No. Merrick, N.Y.) at the top flight against the Bridges' (3-2) Ryan Sham and Craig Pazarecki. Junior Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) teamed with senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) for an 8-4 win against Ryan Hume and Aymen Kuc at No. 2, before the FSC third-flight tandem of senior Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) and sophomore Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned an 8-7 decision over Denis Redzematovic and Mordecai Lev, after winning the tiebreaker game by a 7-4 count.

Farmingdale State clinched the team match with singles victories in the first four flights. Baker blitzed past Sham by identical 6-0 scores at the top flight, with Sabovic dispatching Pazarecki at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-3. Hendel bested Hume at No. 3, 6-3 and 6-2, while Sawar gutted out a 6-4, 6-3 decision in the fourth flight versus Kuc.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams next open conference play on Sunday afternoon, when they play host to Yeshiva University at 1 p.m.
