Rams Season Ends with Loss to Salisbury

Newport News, Va. - The Farmingdale State softball team was eliminated from the NCAA Regional Tournament after an 11-0 loss to Salisbury this afternoon. The Rams finish the season with a 26-15 overall record.

Salisbury (36-6) broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning on a two out RBI double to left center by junior center fielder Sarah Alpaugh (Eldersburg, Md.). The Sea Gulls added three runs in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 4-0.

Salisbury scored seven runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach for Farmingdale State.

Senior first baseman Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y.) sophomore shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.) and freshman center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) each had a hit for the Rams in the loss.

Sophomore first baseman Harley Hill (Huntingtown, Md.) was 3-for-5 with 2 RBI, while senior pitcher Erika Brittingham (Georgetown, Del.) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Brittingham earned the win for Salisbury after throwing six shutout innings.
