Men's Tennis Falls to No. 75 Baruch

No. 75 Baruch 7, Farmingdale State 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 match Friday afternoon to Baruch College, which sits at No. 75 in the April 15 release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division III national rankings.

FSC (6-7) leveled the doubles matches at 1-1 when its top-flight duo of freshman Devan Melandro (Syosset, N.Y.) and sophomore Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) scored a 6-3 triumph over Juan Mendoza and Philip Roeder of the Bearcats (12-2). Baruch was able to clinch the doubles point, as it picked up a 6-4 decision in the third and final flight.

The visitors swept all six singles matches, with Ahmed providing tough competition for Roeder (a 7-5, 6-3 winner) in the No. 2 slot.

Farmingdale State will play host to a pair of Skyline Conference opponents on Saturday afternoon, as it takes on the University of Mount Saint Vincent at 1, before facing off with Purchase at 3:30.
