FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's golf team, who set a school record with a 284 (-4) in round one, shot a 290 (+2) in the second round of the George Cangero Invitational at Bethpage State Park's Blue Course on Sunday. The Rams finished with a two-day total of 574 (-2), tallying fourth place out of 11 teams. FSC sophomoreÂ
CJ Merritt (Plainview, N.Y.) claimed co-medalist honors after shooting a 68 (-4) for the second consecutive day and finishing with a tournament-low 136 (-8).Â
Merritt tied with Daniel Suter of Gettysburg for the individual championship. In the final four holes, Merritt trailed by one stroke and hit his approach on hole 15 to two feet, making a birdie to match Suter. On hole 16, Merritt got up and down from the left of the green for another birdie, once again tying Suter. He finally pulled to eight-under on hole 17 when his tee shot landed three feet from the cup. He earned a birdie, while Suter recorded a par. Both players tallied par on the 18th as they tied for the individual lead.
Adelphi University took home the team trophy after winning a three-team tiebreaker with Gettysburg College and Luther College. All three teams finished with a 569 (-7) over the two-day tournament, but the Panthers emerged victorious based on the fifth-man tiebreaker.
Following Merritt on the leader board for Farmingdale State was junior
James Quinlan (Poughquag, N.Y.), who shot a one-under-par 71 on Sunday, finishing with even-par total of 144 and tying for 12th place. Senior
Mackenzie Kim (East Quogue, N.Y.) registered a two-day total of 147 (+3) and tied for 18th.

Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y. - T23rd) and sophomoreÂ
Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y. - T32nd) rounded out the scoring for FSC with scores of 148 (+4) and 151 (+7).
Farmingdale State's B team was led by junior
Anthony Marion (Plattsburgh, N.Y.), who shot a 74 (+2) on Sunday and came in 23rd place, individually. FreshmenÂ
Liam Blanc (Fairfield, Conn.) andÂ
Rishi Talwar (East Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded rounds of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5), respectively, with Blanc producing a 36-hole score of 149 (+5) and Talwar at 151 (+7).
Farmingdale State will close out their fall schedule with an exhibition dual match versus Luther College on Tuesday, October 22nd at Bethpage's Red Course.
