LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's golf team placed fourth out of 14 teams at the RPI Invitational, held Sunday and Monday at Shaker Ridge Country Club. The Rams followed a 303 (+19) in the opening round with a 301 (+17)Â on Monday to finish with a two-day total of 610 (+36)Â for the tournament.
Swarthmore captured the team title with a score of 589 (+21), followed by New York University (594) and Bishop University (598) in second and third place, respectively.
Junior CJ Merritt (Plainview, N.Y.) led FSC with a two-round total of 147 (+5) after carding a 73 (+2) in round one and 74 (+3) on Monday, earning a tie for fifth place individually.
Junior Luke O'Grady-Rodgers (Carmel, N.Y.) shot a 74 (+3) in the second round to finish tied for 15th at nine-over-par (151). Freshman Luke Grebinar (Leominster, Mass.) recorded a 76 (+5) in the final round to tie for 18th place individually with a two-day score of 153 (+11). Classmates Philip Connolly (Garden City, N.Y.) and Mitchel Creamer (Mission Viejo, Calif.) also tied for 18th after matching rounds of 76 (+5) and 77 (+6) in the two-day event.
The Rams next return to action on Thursday, October 16th, when they compete in the 36-hole Adelphi Invitational at the Meadow Brook Club.
