KINGS PARK, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the St. Joseph's-Long Island Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday.
The men placed fourth out of 26 competing teams, while the women were 14th of 22 teams.
The host Golden Eagles won the men's 8k race, with Monroe College taking the women's 5k.Â
Farmingdale State was led by freshman
Zackary Gopie (Floral Park, N.Y.), who earned fourth place individually out of 193 competitors in 27:34.9. He had an average mile time of 5:32.9.
Junior
Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) ran the 8k in 30:12.7 and came in 26th place, while freshmen
Max Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) (30:13.9)Â and
Gabriel Aguiar (Levittown, N.Y.) (30:16.3) earned 29th and 30th, respectively.
Senior
Anthony Piergiovanni (Wantagh, N.Y.) rounded out the top-five for FSC with 54th place in 31:50.5.

Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) continued to lead the women with 15th place out of 171 competitors in 21:44.1.
FreshmanÂ
Precious Akahara (Valley Stream, N.Y.) (27:57.1) bested her time from last weekend and finished in 95th individually.
Sophomore'sÂ
Kimberlyn David (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and
Nicole Pickett (Uniondale, N.Y.) tallied times of 28:13 and 28:13.9, respectively, to finish third and fourth on Farmingdale State.Â
Junior
Margaret Adams (North Babylon, N.Y.) completed the scoring for the Rams with her time of 34:26.3.
The men's and women's cross country teams will next compete in the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, October 22nd at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. The women will race first at 11:00 a.m. with the men to follow at noon.
