Strong Fourth Period Leads Stockton Past Rams

Galloway, N.J. - Stockton outscored Farmingdale State 3-0 in the fourth period as they earned a 9-7 Skyline Conference men's lacrosse victory this afternoon in Galloway, N.J. The Rams have earned the #4 seed for the upcoming playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 3-3 record in conference play.

Leading 2-1 early in the second period, Farmingdale State (8-7) senior midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal to put the Rams ahead by two. Only nine seconds later, a Nicholas Mattei (Farmingdale, N.Y.) unassisted score gave Farmingdale State a 4-1 lead.

After back-to-back Stockton (11-4, 4-2) goals cut the deficit to one, sophomore attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) netted the pass from Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) to bring the FSC advantage back to two at 5-3. Stockton junior midfielder Guy Loggi (Somers Point, N.J.) scored the final goal of the half for the Ospreys as the Rams took a 5-4 lead into the break.

Stockton tied the game 1:13 into the third on a man-up score by Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner, N.J.) but Farmingdale State's Philip Schaefer* (Holbrook, N.Y.) answered with a goal to regain the lead, 6-5. 

With 4:28 remaining in the third, sophomore midfielder Nick LeBright (Levittown, N.Y.) gave the Rams a two goal edge with an unassisted score.

Stockton scored the final four goals of the game as they earned the 9-7 victory.

The Rams had seven different players score a goal, while Cegielski tallied a team-high three assists. Junior goalkeeper Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) tied a season-high with 14 saves for Farmingdale State.

Bologno finished with a game-high five points on one goal and four assists for the Ospreys.

The Rams will now travel to #1 Montclair State for the Skyline Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, April 29th.
