Oswego State 14, Farmingdale State 13
OSWEGO, N.Y. | After tying the game in the final minute of play on Saturday afternoon, the Farmingdale State College men's lacrosse team fell at Oswego State, 14-13, as the Lakers scored the game-winning goal with 25 seconds to go.

The teams played to a 4-4 score after one period of play, with the Rams (5-2) receiving one goal apiece from seniors Casey Fortunato (Northport, N.Y.), Amir Slaughter (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Tommy Mai (Islip, N.Y.), and junior Joey Forchelli (Seaford, N.Y.). FSC then outscored Oswego State (7-1) 6-0 in the second quarter behind three more goals from Forchelli, as the visitors carried a 10-4 lead into the halftime break.

The Lakers pulled even at 11-11 with a 7-1 spurt in the third quarter of action, with Farmingdale State's goal coming at the 10:00 mark from junior attackman Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.). Oswego State pushed ahead 13-11 with a pair of scores in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter, before the Rams mounted a comeback to tie things up at 13-all. Freshman Ethan Vargas (Bay Shore, N.Y.) fired home a man-up tally with 6:36 remaining, before Giovinco found Fortunato for the tying strike with 58 seconds left. Following the Lakers' go-ahead goal at the 0:25 mark, Farmingdale State gained possession off the ensuing face-off courtesy of a ground ball by junior Sean Lawson (Mattituck, N.Y.). However, the Rams were unable to get a shot off and fell by the one-goal margin.

Forchelli (4g) and Giovinco (2g, 2a) led the visitors with four points apiece, while Fortunato (2g, a) and Slaughter (g, 2a) both added three. Vargas ended the afternoon with a two-goal effort, while sophomore defender Matt Durnin (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) swiped three caused turnovers on the FSC defense. Junior goalie Connor Dobson (Islip, N.Y.) made nine saves in net for Farmingdale State, who is back in action at home on Tuesday night (March 24) at 7 versus FDU-Florham.
