Rams Fall to Yeshiva on Senior Day; Clinch #3 Seed for Playoffs

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team fell, 5-4, to Yeshiva in their regular season finale on Sunday afternoon. The Rams finished the regular season with a 4-2 record in the Skyline Conference and earned the #3 seed for the upcoming playoffs.

Farmingdale State (9-4) earned one point in doubles competition as junior Kevin Palacios (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and freshman Daniel Kafka (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) paired for a 9-7 victory in the #2 slot.

In singles play, Kafka recorded a 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 win in the #5 position, while freshman Joseph Drago (Bronx, N.Y.) won 6-1, 6-2 in sixth singles. Sophomore Tyler Danzy (Central Islip, N.Y.) was awarded a point at second singles after his competitor had to retire due to injury early in the first set.

Senior's Chris Watts (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), Aravind Mahalingam (Hyderabad, India) and Karuppiah Karuppiah (Trichy, India) were each honored for senior day as they played in their final home game.

The Rams will now head to #2 Purchase for the Skyline Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, April 22nd at 4:00 p.m. The other semifinal game features #4 Mount Saint Mary at #1 Yeshiva on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. The two winners will square off in the Finals on Saturday, April 25th at the site of the highest remaining seed.
