Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team improved to 9-0 on the season after earning an 8-1 Skyline victory at Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday. The Rams are 6-0 in conference play, while the Knights fell to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline.
Farmingdale State swept the doubles matches with sophomore Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and senior Ryan Musalo's (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) 9-8 (7-3) victory in the #1 position. Senior Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) teamed with junior Steven Ferrantello (Dix Hills, N.Y.) for an 8-5 win at second doubles, while juniors Bradley Smith (Mineola, N.Y.) and Judd Bahoui (Long Beach, N.Y.) picked up an 8-4 victory in the #3 slot.
In singles play, Vijungco won 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3) in the #1 position, while Musalo (6-4, 6-2) earned a win at second singles. Bessarabov (6-4, 7-5), Bahoui (6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-4) and Smith (0-6, 6-2, 6-1) all earned victories for the Rams.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Merchant Marine for a non-conference match on Thursday, April 18th at 4:30 p.m.
