#2 Farmingdale State - 5, #4 Purchase College - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team captured their second straight Skyline Championship today with a 5-0 victory over #4 Purchase College (10-4). The Rams received the conference's automatic bid to the 2012 Division III Men's Tennis Tournament and will await word of their opponent on Monday, May 7th.

Farmingdale State (12-5) swept the doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. The #1 doubles team of sophomore Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) won 8-4, followed by the #2 doubles team of junior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.). The third doubles tandem of sophomore Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) and freshman Jimmy Lopez (Medford, N.Y.) won 8-3.

In singles play, Bessarabov remained unbeaten in the playoffs with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Falcetta posted the only other win at #5 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win. All other matches went unfinished as the Rams won the fifth match.

Bessarabov was named the Tournament MVP after posting a 4-0 record this weekend.
