Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team was shutout by Baruch College today, 9-0, in a non-conference match. The Rams (9-5) gave the Bearcats (12-2) a tough match, keeping the matches close.
Farmingdale fell behind 3-0 after the doubles matches, losing by scores of 8-6 (#1 doubles), 8-4 (#2 doubles) and 8-6 (#3 doubles). In singles play, freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) fell in the first set 2-6, before rebounding for a 6-1 win, but falling in the third set 10-6.
At #4 singles, junior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) lost a close match by scores of 7-5 and 6-3. Sophomore Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) fell at #5 singles after winning the first set 6-2. Junior Jack Eichler (Woodbury, N.Y.) fell in a tiebreaker at #6 singles, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
The Rams will close out the regular season with a conference match tomorrow at Yeshiva at Noon at the Binghamton Racquet Club. Farmingdale State has been seeded #2 for the upcoming Skyline Playoffs next week. They will host #3 Mount Saint Mary College on Thursday, April 26 with a time TBA.
