Rams Shutdown Stockton on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team defeated Skyline Conference opponent Stockton, 8-4, this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Tom Hartmann, Bill McGarvey, Jimmy Owsinski, Patrick Schmidt, Tim Caden, Ryan Oswald, Patrick Delventhal, Jason Opitz, Shannon Robinson and Joe Ciaravino were all honored for senior day.

Tied 2-2 midway through the first period, Caden scored an unassisted goal to put the Rams (4-8, 2-2) ahead 3-2. McGavey netted the pass from Oswald with nine seconds remaining in the period to give Farmingdale State a 4-2 advantage.

Oswald and freshmen attack's Brad Rapone (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and Dan Cozier (West Islip, N.Y.) all added second period goals as the Rams held Stockton (6-7, 3-2) scoreless in the period and took a 7-2 lead into halftime. Farmingdale State caused 15 Stockton turnovers in the first half.

Senior attack Brian Santoleri (Berwyn, Penn.) scored for the Ospreys seven seconds into the third period to cut the deficit to 7-3. A Stockton unassisted goal with 13:52 left in the period by senior midfielder Wade Veselka (Chesterfield, N.J.) pulled the team with three, 7-4. Neither team would score for the remainder of the period.

Farmingdale State freshman midfielder Donovan Devaney (Northport, N.Y.) scored the games final goal with 10:49 left to play as the Rams earned an 8-4 conference victory.

Oswald had a game-high three points as he scored a goal and added two assists, while Cozier netted a team-high two goals. Opitz scored a goal and had an assist, while Caden, Rapone, McGarvey and Devaney each scored a goal for Farmingdale State. Junior midfielder Bobby Thomas (Wantagh, N.Y.) picked up six ground balls in the victory.

Delventhal recorded 10 saves in goal for the Rams, while senior goalkeeper Noah Morris (Brick, N.J.) made 15 saves for the Ospreys.

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, April 18th at 4:00 p.m.
