Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team shutout CCNY (0-5) in their home opener on Friday night with a 9-0 victory to improve to 1-1 overall. The Rams fell in just one game all afternoon, as they cruised to the non-conference win.
In doubles play, Farmingdale State started out 3-0 before sweeping the singles competition with 6-0, 6-0 wins by every player.
Sophomore Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) rolled to an 8-0 score in #1 doubles play, while junior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) also won 8-0 at #2 doubles. In third doubles, freshman Jimmy Lopez (Medford, N.Y.) and sophomore Rob Henn (Bethpage, N.Y.) posted an 8-1 win.
In the top singles match, Vijungco picked up his first collegiate win with the 6-0, 6-0 shutout over CCNY's Michael Kim. The other five singles matches posted the same scores in favor of Farmingdale State.
The Rams will now host John Jay on Monday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m. for a non-conference game.
