Rams Shutout Merchant Marine in Non-Conference Match

Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 non-conference victory over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy today in Kings Point, N.Y. The Rams (9-1) posted their sixth straight victory, while the Mariners fall to 1-9 overall.

In doubles action, the #1 tandem in freshman Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) and senior Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y.) won 8-4, before they both posted wins in singles play. Sophomore Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and senior Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y.) both posted shutouts (6-0, 6-0) at 3rd and 6th singles, respectively.

Farmingdale State will now host Hunter College on Thursday, April 21st at 4:00 p.m., before hosting Ramapo College on Saturday, April 23rd at 3:00 p.m., both non-conference matches. They will close out the regular season with a match against John Jay on Tuesday, April 26th at 4:00 p.m.

The Rams have clinched the top seed in the upcoming Skyline Playoffs, for the first time in school history, stay tuned for their first opponent in the Conference tournament.
