Box Score Men's Tennis Shuts Out Bard in Home Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team shutout visiting Bard College, 9-0, to pick up their first victory in the home opener this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams are now 1-0 in the Skyline, while the Raptors fall to 0-1 in conference play.
Freshman Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) picked up two wins in his first collegiate match, combining with senior Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y.) for an 8-1 victory at 1st doubles and then winning 6-0, 6-0 at 1st singles. Passarella picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at 2nd singles.
Freshman Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) also won his first two matches of collegiate competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win at 6th singles and an 8-0 win at 3rd doubles with freshman Bradley Smith (Mineola, N.Y.)
The 2010 Skyline Rookie of the Year, sophomore Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), defeated the Raptors' Joel Richmond 6-0, 6-1 at 3rd singles and teamed up with senior Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y.) for an 8-1 win at 2nd doubles. Genzmann won 6-0, 6-0 at 5th singles.
Farmingdale State will travel to face Suffolk Community College in a scrimmage on Monday, March 21st at 4:00 p.m.
