Rams Shutout NYU-Poly in Skyline Match

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team shutout NYU-Poly, 9-0, yesterday afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline Conference, while the Fighting Blue Jays fell to 0-6, 0-3.

Freshman Alexandra Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and junior Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y.) each improved to 7-0 on the season after picking up wins at second and fifth singles, respectively. Farmingdale State's #1 singles player freshman Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) defeated Ariel Zeig 6-1, 6-0 and now holds a 5-2 record this season.

In first doubles the team of Sickles and junior Kristina Rossano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) defeated Zeig and Rebecca Sandora of NYU-Poly 8-0. Bentz and freshman Liliya Dyakiv (Shirley, N.Y.) earned an 8-1 win at second doubles, while Earlie and freshman teammate Amanda Vecchio (Shirley, N.Y.) captured their #3 doubles match 8-0.

The Rams next will travel to Sage for a Skyline Conference match on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00 p.m.
