FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The top-seeded Farmingdale State College women's tennis team fell to No. 2 Manhattanville, 4-2, in the Skyline Conference Championship Final on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Valiants (10-2) earned the Conference's automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Division III Championship in May.
In doubles play, Manhattanville took an early lead after a 6-2 win in the top-flight match. Farmingdale State (10-5) evened the score as seniors MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Mikayla DeMaria (West Babylon, N.Y.) earned a 7-5 victory at third doubles. The Valiants then secured the doubles point with a narrow 7-6 (7-5) win in the second position over freshman Martine McGowan (Port Washington, N.Y.) and senior Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.).
In singles, Manhattanville extended its advantage with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1Â singles. FSC got on the board as Loria tallied a 6-3, 6-0 win at fifth singles, and DeMaria followed with a 6-0, 7-5 victory in the sixth position to even the overall score at 2-2.
Manhattanville regained control with a win at third singles before clinching the championship in the fourth singles match, where the Valiants' Jenifer Lalman outlasted Gisler, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Lalman was named the Championship's Most Outstanding Player after securing the decisive point.
McGowan was leading the third set of her No. 2 singles match, 4-0, but play went unfinished once the team result was determined.
Farmingdale State finishes the 2025 season with a 10-5 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in Skyline play during the regular season.
