Farmingdale State - 7, York (N.Y.) - 2

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's tennis team improved to 5-1 on the season as they earned a 7-2 victory over non-conference opponent York (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon.

Freshmen Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Alexandra Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) each picked up victories at #1 and #2 singles, respectively. Bentz improved to 6-0 on the year in the second singles spot. Junior Kristina Rossano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) earned a 6-1, 7-5 win at 3rd singles, while junior Laura Earlie (Moriches, N.Y.) also improved to 6-0 with her 6-1, 6-1 win at 5th singles.

In doubles competition, Sickles and Rossano paired together for an 8-1 victory. Freshman Liliya Dyakiv (Shirley, N.Y.) and Bentz are now 5-0 at #2 doubles after earning an 8-4 victory over York's Nina Olladikankwu and Valerie Roland. Earlie and teammate Amanda Vecchio (Shirley, N.Y.) capped off a doubles sweep for Farmingdale State with an 8-3 win.

The Rams next will host NYU-Poly in a Skyline Conference match on Wednesday, October 5th at 4:00 p.m.
