John Jay Edges Rams in Non-Conference Match

John Jay College - 5, Farmingdale State 4

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The John Jay Bloodhounds (1-0) edged Farmingdale State, 5-4, on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference men's tennis match. The Rams (2-2) took the lead 2-1 after doubles play but fell 4-2 in singles matches.

Junior Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y./Holy Cross) and sophomore Theo Gioles (Wantagh, N.Y./Seaford) defeated John Jays #1 doubles tandem by a score of 8-6, while senior Joe Hotzak (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) and freshman Adrian Summerlin (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) picked up an 8-3 win at #3 doubles.

Hotzak and Summerlin also won in singles. Hotzak won a 5th singles match over Derrick Chung 6-1, 6-2, while Summerlin defeated Kelvin Rodriguez at 6th singles, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3.

Farmingdale State will now travel to Bard College for a Skyline Conference match on Saturday, March 27th at 2:00 p.m.
