Box Score No. 7 Kean Takes 11-2 Win over Rams
#7 Kean University - 11, Farmingdale State - 2
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The No. 7 nationally ranked Kean
University Cougars improved to 11-4 overall as they took an 11-2
victory over host Farmingdale State today in non-conference
baseball action. The Rams fall to 8-11 with the loss.
Kean jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI
single by junior designated hitter Ken Gregory (Pittstown,
N.J./Immaculata) to score senior second baseman Mike Moceri
(Yardville, N.J./Hamilton East) from second base. But the Rams tied
the game in the bottom of the inning with a single down the left
field line from senior designated hitter Mike Labrozzi (Sag Harbor,
N.Y./Pierson) to score senior centerfielder Frank Yera (Manhattan,
N.Y./Grand Street Campus) from second.
The game went scoreless over the next two innings, before Kean
scored five runs in the top of the fourth on five hits and one
error to take the 6-1 lead. Farmingdale State got a run back in the
bottom of the fifth with an RBI double to right field by freshman
first baseman Chris Longo (Commack, N.Y./Commack) to make it 6-2.
The Cougars added four more runs in the seventh to run away with
the game.
Freshman right hander Greg Baruka (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover
Park) got the win for Kean, pitching five innings with four hits,
no walks and two strikeouts. Senior left hander James Raimondi
(Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) got the loss for Farmingdale,
allowing eight hits and four earned runs.
The Rams will travel this weekend for two Skyline Conference
games. On Saturday, the Rams face Mount Saint Mary College in a
doubleheader played at SUNY New Paltz. On Sunday, the Rams will
face Purchase College in a doubleheader, starting at Noon.
