In the first game, Manhattanville jumped out to a 9-0 lead over the first three innings of play, including a four-run first inning and a three-run second frame.
FSC pulled one run back in the bottom of the fourth inning, when senior catcher
Ryan Plocker (Dix Hills, N.Y.) sent a two-out RBI single to left-center field to score freshman
John Francisco (Smithtown, N.Y.) from second base. The Rams tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning, with junior infielder

Wasserman went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, while Heyder also reached base safely twice on a hit and one walk. Senior pitcher
Derek Torres (Massapequa, N.Y.) tossed the final five innings in relief, scattering two earned runs and two hits while striking out three Valiants.
The first three innings of the second tilt saw the visitors go ahead 5-0, before FSC responded with a three-run bottom of the fourth inning to cut its deficit to two runs. Sophomores
Tyler Diez (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Sean Maldonado (Glen Head, N.Y.), along with Wasserman, all recorded two-out, run-scoring singles in the rally.Â
After Manhattanville tacked on one run in the top of the sixth to push their advantage to 6-3, the Rams registered two runs in the bottom of the frame and one more in the seventh to level the score at 6-all. Maldonado's first collegiate home run was a two-run shot to left field that also scored junior
Vincent Deiosso (Glen Cove, N.Y.), with Deiosso following up in the seventh inning with a single to center field to plate Heyder with the game-tying run.Â
The Valiants tallied two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead for good, and worked around a bases-loaded jam in the bottom half of the inning to preserve the final score.
Heyder went 2-for-4 with a double to extend his hitting streak to 11 straight games, while Maldonado's three RBI were a career-best. Senior
Christopher Sais (Hicksville, N.Y.), sophomore
Mike D'Angelo (Mineola, N.Y.) and Deiosso all collected two hits, for the home side.
