CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
PURCHASE, N.Y. | After suffering an 11-0 loss to top-seeded Manhattanville in Friday's winner's bracket game, the second-seeded Farmingdale State softball team responded with a 9-0 run-rule victory over No. 5 seeded Old Westbury in an elimination game to advance to the Final of the 2026 Skyline Conference Championship.
The Rams (27-16) will face Manhattanville on Sunday (May 10)Â at noon for the Championship. FSCÂ must defeat the Valiants twice to claim the Skyline Conference title and the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship, while Manhattanville needs just one win to secure the championship.
FSC opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning against Old Westbury as sophomore left fielder Alexandra Pole (Rocky Point, N.Y.) delivered a two-run single to center field, scoring senior designated player Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and freshman first baseman Emily Lopez (Miller Place, N.Y.).
The Rams added two more runs in the fourth inning. Junior center fielder Ashley Toro (Bay Shore, N.Y.) produced an RBI single up the middle before sophomore shortstop Natalie McMichael (Smithtown, N.Y.) grounded out to bring home another run and extend the lead to 4-0.
Farmingdale State pushed the advantage to 6-0 in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from junior outfielder Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) and another RBI single by Toro.
The Rams closed out the 9-0 run-rule victory with three runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a solo home run from sophomore pinch-hitter Hailey Cannon (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and an RBI single from Stolfi.
Junior pitcher Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y. - W, 18-10) tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits while striking out one batter.
Pole and Toro each drove in two runs in the win, while Stolfi finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, walk and a run scored. Junior catcher Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) recorded two hits and Cannon added the pinch-hit home run for the Rams.
