Softball Defeats MSMC to Advance to Winner's Bracket of Skyline Championship

PURCHASE, N.Y. | The second-seeded Farmingdale State softball team advanced to the winner's bracket of the 2026 Skyline Conference Championship with a 10-0 run-rule victory over No. 3 Mount Saint Mary to open the tournament on Thursday.

The Rams (26-15) will next face top-seeded Manhattanville in the winner's bracket game on Friday at 10:00 a.m. The Knights (18-18) will take on Old Westbury in an elimination game at noon. The loser of the 10:00 a.m. game and winner of the noon game will meet later in the day in another elimination game, with the winner advancing to Saturday's Championship Final.

FSC took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as junior catcher Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) led off with a double and scored on a single by senior designated player Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.). Later in the inning, Stolfi scored on a two-out RBI single by junior right fielder Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) to go up 2-0.

Farmingdale State extended its lead in the second on another RBI single by Stolfi to score Sturtz.

The Rams broke the game open in the third with seven runs to take a commanding 10-0 lead. Sturtz registered an RBI double, freshman first baseman Emily Lopez (Miller Place, N.Y.) produced an RBI single and sophomore left fielder Alexandra Pole (Rocky Point, N.Y.) tallied a two-run single in the inning.

Junior pitcher Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y. - W, 17-9, 5.0 IP, 4 SO, 4 H) tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits, as FSC earned the 10-0 run-rule victory.

Stolfi finished 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBI's and one run scored, while Sturtz had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored. Junior third baseman Bailey Hammock (Port Jervis, N.Y.) recorded two hits and DeMaio added a pair of hits and two RBI's at the plate in the victory.
