Mercado, Destine Lead Rams with Multiple Wins at Battle of Madison Ave

RESULTS
MADISON, N.J. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Battle of Madison Ave #2, hosted by FDU-Florham, with the FSC men placing third and the women taking fifth.

On the men's side, junior Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) had a standout day in the throws, earning a trio of top-three finishes. Mercado captured first place in both the shot put with a mark of 14.62m (47' 11.75") and the hammer throw with a toss of 45.64m (149' 9"), while also placing third in the discus with a throw of 43.65m (143' 2").

Freshman Christian Destine (Rosedale, N.Y.) captured a pair of victories in the jumps as he took first in both the long jump at 6.62m (21' 8.75") and the triple jump at 13.62m (44' 8.25").

Sophomore Aaron Matos (East Meadow, N.Y.) placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.87m (6' 1.50") and fourth in the long jump at 6.52m (21' 4.75").

Junior Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.) earned a runner-up finish in the 5000m in 16:25.67.

Junior Matthew Rintoul (Lake Grove, N.Y.) also earned second in the 1500m in 4:28.00, while placing seventh in the 400m with a time of 53.38.

Sophomore Xavier Myers (West Babylon, N.Y.) contributed a fourth place finish in the discus with a throw of 40.60m (133' 4") and fifth in the shot put at 11.96m (39' 3").

Sophomore Daniel Akpan (Selden, N.Y.) competed in the sprints, placing ninth in the 100m in 11.51 and 12th in the 200m in 23.51.

On the women's side, senior Olivia Finnegan (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the way with a seventh place mark in the 100m. She posted a 13.25 in the preliminaries and was seventh in the finals in 13.40. Finnegan also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.24m (33' 7.25").

Freshman Ciara Cromie (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded a top-three finish with third place in the 1500m in 5:40.09.

Sophomore Alice Valenzuela (Elmont, N.Y.) competed in three events, finishing fourth in the 400m in 1:02.00, fifth in the 800m in 2:46.09, and ninth in the 200m in 27.94.

The Rams will next host the 2026 Skyline Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, April 26th starting at 10:00 a.m.
