Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) capped off an impressive season by placing 22nd in the shot put at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday at SPIRE Institute in Ohio.
Mercado opened with his best throw of the day, reaching 14.45m (47' 5"). After a foul on his second attempt, he closed with a mark of 13.98m (45' 10.5").
Mercado was the first FSC student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championship since Jyaire Ewa in 2018 (hammer throw). He earned his spot at the nationals with a career-best throw of 16.54m (54' 3.25") at the Skyline Conference Championship on April 27th.
