Alexandria Walbroehl (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) tallied 23 points and 14 rebounds as the Farmingdale State College women's basketball team earned an 86-55 Skyline Conference victory at Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday. The Rams improved to 11-10 overall and 9-7 in the Skyline, while the Gryphons fell to 12-9, 9-7.
FSC took an 18-16 advantage into the second quarter and used baskets by freshman forward
Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y.) and junior guard
Mia Simmons (Queens, N.Y.) to take a six-point lead.Â
After Sarah Lawrence cut their deficit to three, 24-21, Farmingdale State responded with 13 unanswered points to build a commanding 16-point lead. Simmons scored eight points during the run, while Walbroehl added a layup and sophomore guard
Brianna Amenta (Oceanside, N.Y.) connected on a 3-pointer.Â
The Gryphons closed within eight, 46-38, early in the third quarter before a quick 6-0 spurt allowed the Rams to regain a 14-point edge.
Farmingdale State led 52-40 midway through the third and closed the quarter on a 16-6 run to take a 22 point-advantage at 68-46 into the fourth.
The Rams outscored the Gryphons, 18-9, in the final quarter as they went on for the 86-55 Skyline Conference victory.
Walbroehl shot 9-of-18 from the field en route to her 23 points and grabbed six offensive rebounds. Simmons recorded 14 points and three assists, while junior forward
Samyah Allen (Queens Village, N.Y.) tallied 13 points and four rebounds. Sophomore forward
Emily Tsiforas (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) added 11 points, and senior guard
Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet with 10 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.Â
Farmingdale State will next play host to Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:00 p.m.
