Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) led all players Tuesday night with game-highs of 18 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and as many steals, as she guided the Farmingdale State College women's basketball team to a 77-56 victory over Yeshiva University in Skyline Conference play.
Parker's layup 1:54 into the contest gave the Rams (12-10, 10-8 Skyline) a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish over the Maccabees (2-20, 1-16). FSC led by a 14-13 score after one quarter of action, and went on a 9-0 run to start the second frame behind four points from sophomore
Emily Tsiforas (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) to push ahead by double digits. YU closed to within four points of the home side with 30 seconds on the clock, before Parker's layup 14 seconds before the buzzer sounded gave Farmingdale State a 34-28 lead at halftime.
The Rams outscored the Macs 15-8 over the first five-plus minutes of the second half, and junior
Samyah Allen's (Queens Village, N.Y.) pair of free throws gave FSC a 49-36 advantage. Allen and junior
Anayah Lloyd (Freeport, N.Y.) then registered four points apiece in the final 2:41 of the third quarter to help Farmingdale State carry a 59-44 lead into the final 10-minute session.
FSC scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter, including a conventional 3-point play by Lloyd and a run-capping 3-pointer by sophomore
Brianna Amenta (Oceanside, N.Y.), to edge ahead 69-44 with 7:53 to go.
Amenta chipped in with 12 points and four steals, while Lloyd (5-of-5 FG, 1-of-1 FT) used a strong mid-range game to notch a career-high 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals off the bench. Tsiforas shot 5-of-9 from the field to finish the evening with 11 points, eight boards and three steals.
Farmingdale State, winners of three straight games, will play host to Senior Day ceremonies on Saturday at noon versus St. Joseph's-Long Island.
