Allen Scores 22 Points to Lead Women’s Basketball Past Yeshiva

NEW YORK, N.Y. | Junior forward Samyah Allen (Queens Village, N.Y.) scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Farmingdale State College women's basketball team to a 62-43 Skyline Conference victory over Yeshiva University on Tuesday night. The Rams improved to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in Skyline play, while the Maccabees fell to 1-11, 0-7.

Yeshiva opened the game on a 10-2 run and led 14-8 after the first quarter.

After the Maccabees opened the second with 3-pointer to go up by nine, FSC recorded 10 straight points from five different scorers to take an 18-17 advantage.

Farmingdale State was ahead 29-28 at the halftime break and used a 6-2 run to take a five-point edge early in the third quarter.

Leading 41-36, FSC put the game out of reach with a 14-2 run to open the fourth. Allen scored eight of her points in the frame, while freshman forward Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y.) knocked down a 3-pointer as the Rams went on for the 62-43 victory.

Allen finished the night shooting 10-of-18 from the field while adding five rebounds and two steals. Sophomore guard Emily Tsiforas (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) recorded eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while senior guard Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) chipped in seven points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Henry ended with seven points off the bench and junior guard Mia Simmons (Queens, N.Y.) added six points and dished out a game-high seven assists in the win.

Farmingdale State returns home to play Lasell in non-conference action on Thursday, January 8th at 6:00 p.m.
