PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's basketball team traveled to Skyline Conference opponentĀ St. Joseph's-Long Island on Tuesday evening and fell, 58-46. FSC dropped to 5-4 in conference play, while the Golden Eagles improved to 4-5.
The Rams were down 5-2 in the opening minutes before using a 10-2 run to take a 12-7 lead. Senior forward
Alexandria Walbroehl (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) accounted for three baskets during the spurt.
St. Joseph's-Long Island answered with six straight points, but Farmingdale State sophomore guard
Brianna Amenta (Oceanside, N.Y.) closed the first quarter with a 3-pointer to give the Rams a 15-13 advantage.
The Golden Eagles outscored FSC, 14-5, in the second quarter to take a 27-20 lead at the halftime break. SJLI extended its advantage early in the third quarter with a 7-2 run to push their margin to 12.
St. Joseph's-Long Island increased the lead to 16 at the end of the third quarter and led by as many as 21 in the fourth en route to the 58-46 victory.
Sophomore guard
Emily Tsiforas (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) recorded a double-double for Farmingdale State with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Walbroehl finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard
Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) produced three points, three rebounds, five assists and five steals in the loss.
The Rams return home to play Sarah Lawrence inĀ Skyline Conference action on Thursday, January 15th at 6:00 p.m.
