Trio of FSC Golfers Named to PING All-Region II Team

COMPLETE NCAA DIVISION III PING ALL-REGION TEAM RELEASE
PENFIELD, N.Y. | The NCAA Division III PING All-Region Team was released by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Sunday night, and three members of the Farmingdale State College golf team were selected to the Region II squad in advance of their play this week at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship: senior Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y.), and sophomores Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y.) and CJ Merritt (Plainview, N.Y.).

This is believed to mark the first time Farmingdale State has had three student-athletes recognized on the All-Region Team in program history; the Rams had a pair of selections in a season three times – 2015 (Matt Pollock and Scott Sessions); 2023 (Chris Iguchi and current senior Mackenzie Kim); and 2024 (Kim and Merritt).

Merritt repeats as an All-Region selection after winning the Skyline Conference Championship (Sept. 29-30) in as many seasons as a collegian, and enters NCAA play with a 75.78 stroke average across his 20 rounds of golf in 2024-25. He shot a 67 (-3) in the second round of the FSC Spring Invitational on April 20, in addition to shooting matching -4 rounds of 68 at the George Cangero Invitational, Oct. 19-20.

Castaldy's 75.43 stroke average over his 21-round campaign is the best mark on Farmingdale State entering championship play. He carded a 2-under 70 on Oct. 19 at the George Cangero Invitational, as well as a pair of 1-under rounds – at the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic (71) on Sept. 7, as well as April 19 at the FSC Spring Invitational (69).

Douglas joins the All-Region team after a sophomore season in which he has registered a 75.71 stroke average for the Rams. He finished three of his 21 rounds entering NCAA action at even par: Sept. 7, at the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic (72); Sept. 15, at the Duke Nelson Invitational (71); and most recently, April 20, at the FSC Spring Invitational (70).

Farmingdale State's three All-Region selections, in addition to Kim (East Quogue, N.Y.) and junior James Quinlan (Poughquag, N.Y.), start the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday (May 20) at the Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, N.Y. Quinlan is the first player scheduled to tee off for the Rams at 12:50 p.m., followed in 10-minute intervals by Douglas, Merritt, Castaldy and Kim.
