Bamfo, Mercado Earn All-Region Honors at AARTFC Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. | Farmingdale State College men's student-athletes Daniel Bamfo (Jr.; Lake Grove, N.Y.) and Adonias Mercado (So.; Hillsdale, N.Y.) both earned All-Region honors Thursday night at the 2025 AARTFC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with Bamfo placing third in the triple jump and Mercado recording a fourth-place finish in the shot put.

The duo's performances gave the Rams 11 points at the regional championship, as FSC tied for 25th in the competition with Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Bamfo leaped to a mark of 14.46 meters (47-5.25), which is the No. 31 mark nationally in Division III this spring and No. 2 in Farmingdale State program history (first: Qasim Ellis, 2011 – 47-8), to earn a bronze medal in the event.

Meanwhile, Mercado registered a mark of 15.82 meters (51-11) on his third throw of the day, earning him a spot on the top-eight podium. During Wednesday's competition, the sophomore placed 11th in the discus with a first-throw mark of 45.02m (147-8).

The 4x100 meter relay team of Matthew Alicea (Fr.; Mamaroneck, N.Y.), Davian Rodriguez (Fr.; West Islip, N.Y.), Nathaniel White (Fr.; Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and Dontay Taylor (Jr.; Layou, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) placed 12th in the preliminary rounds, as their time of 42.60 seconds is the No. 10 mark on the all-time FSC leaderboard.

Rounding out the men's side's performances in the field events was a mark of 38.71m (127-0) in the discus from junior Marcin Wasiuta (Farmingdale, N.Y.), a 12th-place leap of 6.78m (22-3) in the long jump by senior Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) and a 46.36m (152-1) mark in the hammer throw by senior Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

In the women's competition, Farmingdale State senior and Skyline Conference Field Athlete of the Year, Olivia Finnegan (Massapequa, N.Y.), tallied a 4.77m (15-7.75) mark in the long jump, while freshman thrower Victoria DeGraw (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) placed 14th in the discus with a toss of 36.83m (120-10).

Mercado now awaits word on whether he will qualify to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which take place May 22-24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.The finalized list of competitors for the meet will be released Friday night (May 16), and Mercado's winning 16.54m (54-3.25) at the Skyline Conference Championship (April 27) presently ranks No. 21 nationally.
