FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | College Sports Communicators released its NCAA Division III Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team earlier this week, and Farmingdale State College seniors
Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and
Ryan Hendel (Merrick, N.Y.) repeated as honorees for the second-consecutive spring.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Sabovic has been selected to move on to the Academic All-America ballot, and the nation's first, second and third-team honorees will be announced on June 4. He ended his five-year Rams career with his second-straight Skyline Conference Player of the Year award, along with his fourth-consecutive All-Skyline First Team citation. Sabovic received all-conference praise in all five of his seasons, and the Science, Technology and Society major ends his illustrious career with Farmingdale State's career records of 50 singles victories and 49 doubles wins.
Hendel, who is graduating after three academic years at FSC, went 11-4 in doubles competition for the this year, predominantly in the top flight with Sabovic. A two-time All-Skyline selection, he leaves the program with 38 doubles wins, which ranks third in Farmingdale State history. Hendel was part of three Skyline Conference championships in as many seasons in a FSC uniform.
Farmingdale State now has a Skyline Conference-record seven conference titles and NCAA Championship appearances after compiling a 16-4 record this season. The Rams also achieved their first-ever Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national ranking.
