FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Second-seeded Farmingdale State College opened the 2026 Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Championship on Wednesday with a 4-0 shutout victory in semifinal play versus No. 3 seed U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
With the win, FSC (13-7) advances to Friday's 1 p.m. championship final at top-seeded Manhattanville University – a 4-0 winner over fourth-seeded Yeshiva University.
The Rams earned the doubles point over the Mariners (9-5), courtesy of a 6-1 victory in the third flight by freshman
Luke Plana (Montgomery, N.Y.) and junior
Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.), as well as a 6-3 decision in the No. 2 slot by junior
Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman
Henri Pothier (Montgomery, N.Y.).
A trio of straight-set singles victories advanced the three-time defending champion Rams back to the conference final. Agyeman was first into the scorebook with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the second flight over USMMA's Fredrich Buqel, before sophomore
Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) delivered a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3 over Aaron Zhao. Closing out Farmingdale State's shutout was sophomore Jordan Gonzalez (Central Islip, N.Y.), who registered a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at the sixth flight against Travis Filer.
