NEW LONDON, Conn. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Coast Guard Academy Winter Invite on Saturday, earning five victories across various events.
Sophomore thrower
Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) led the men's team, winning the shot put with a toss of 14.37m (47' 1.75") and placing third in the weight throw with a distance of 14.34m (47' 0.75"). Senior
Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) finished second in the shot put at 13.63m (44' 8.75")Â and fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.31m (46' 11.5").
Junior
Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.) secured the victory in the 400m in 52.43, while freshman
Nathaniel White (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) took second in 52.84.
Freshman
Aaron Matos (East Meadow, N.Y.) posted a personal-best height of 1.90m (6' 2.75") in the high jump to win the event.
The Rams also claimed first in the distance medley relay, with the team of
Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.),
Daran Saul (Deer Park, N.Y.), Emmanuel Edusah (Brentwood, N.Y.), andÂ
Jack Lengyel (Cheshire, Conn.) registering a time of 11:59.09.
Junior
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) led FSC in both the triple jump and long jump. He recorded the win in the triple for the third consecutive meet with a mark of 13.74m (45' 1") and was third in the long jump in a personal-best length of 6.49m (21' 3.5").
Freshman
Davian Rodriguez (West Islip, N.Y.) earned third place in the 55m hurdles. He recorded a time of 8.59 in the preliminaries before improving to a career-best 8.39 in the final.
On the women's side, freshman thrower
Victoria DeGraw (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) took third in the shot put with a toss of 11.57m (37' 11.5") and sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 11.61m (38' 1.25"). She currently ranks second in program history in the shot put and is sixth in the weight throw.
Freshman
Bryanna Edwards (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was the Rams' top sprinter, finishing third in the 55m in 7.59 and fourth in the 200m in 27.57.Â
Additionally, freshman
Alice Valenzuela (Elmont, N.Y.) took fourth place in the 800m in a time of 2:39.31.
Farmingdale State will next compete at the Wesleyan Indoor Invite in Middletown, Connecticut on Saturday, January 25th.
