Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) placed 12th in the pole vault Friday night at the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship, which is taking place at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Lourenco, who cleared a height of 4.88m (16-0), will receive Second Team All-America honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), which recognizes the top-eight finishers in each event on its first team and places 9-through-16 on its second team. He is just the fourth All-American in FSC program history during its NCAA era; Asiel King received All-America kudos as a qualifier in the 60-meter hurdles during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, while Qasim Ellis placed seventh at the 2011 championship in the triple jump. Andre Brown was the program's first national champion in the long jump in 2005 edition of the championship.Â
