RESULTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track and field teams had 12 student-athletes compete at the 2024 All-Atlantic Region Championships on Friday and Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.
Sophomore
Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) highlighted the meet for FSC as he won the pole vault for the ninth time this season. He cleared a height of 4.88m (16') to beat the field of 21 other competitors. Lourenco currently ranks 11th in the Nation, with hopes of finishing in the top-20 who qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia next weekend.
Sophomore
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) and junior
Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) earned podium finishes for Farmingdale State in the triple jump and long jump, respectively. Bamfo came in sixth place with a length of 13.97m (45' 10") in the triple jump, while Philippe placed eighth with a mark of 6.75m (22' 1.75") in the long jump.
Senior
Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) took part in the women's 60m dash and came in 18th place with a time of 8.14.
Sophomore
Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.) ran the men's 400m in 52.25, good for 20th place. He also competed in the 4x200m relay, with senior
Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.), freshman
Tyler Miles (Huntington, N.Y.) and junior
Dontay Taylor (Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines), and finished in 24th with a time of 1:34.6.
Finally, the women's 4x200m relay team of freshman
Precious Akahara (Valley Stream, N.Y.), senior
Alycia Haynes (Adams Ctr., N.Y.), freshman
Mishell Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) and McNeil took 22nd in 1:53.46. Their time ranks ninth in the FSC all-time record book.
FSC now awaits results from the rest of the weekend to determine if Lourenco's season-best mark of 4.91m in the pole vault will qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Championships are set to take place March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va., with the top 20 declared student-athletes across the country accepted into the competition.
