NEW LONDON, Conn. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the secondĀ Coast Guard Academy Invite of the winter on Friday evening and sophomore
Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) set a new school record in the pole vault with his height of 4.90m (16' 0.75"). He bested his own mark from earlier this season and is now seventhĀ in Division III. Lourenco's height leads the Metro Region and is over a foot higher than the second-ranked mark.Ā
The Coast Guard Invite featured seven other teams, with the men placing third and the women fourth.
Along with Lourenco's win in the pole vault, FSC sophomore
Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.) posted a victory in the 400m in a time of 52.68. ClassmateĀ
Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.) came in second place in the event in 54.16.

Dontay Taylor (Brooklyn, N.Y.) continued his strong season with thirdĀ place (out of 25) in the 200m (23.81) and eighth in the 55m (6.80).Ā

Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) (4:54.53) and freshman
Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.) (5:00.31) placed ninth through 11th, respectively, in the men's mile.

Steven Nataniel (Bay Shore, N.Y.) posted a personal-best time of 9.59 in the 55m hurdles and came in fifth place, while junior
Isaiah Mehnert (West Babylon, N.Y.) notched third in the triple jump (11.97m - 39' 3.25").
For the second straight week, senior
Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and freshman
Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) led the men in the weight throw and shot put.
Wilks earned fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.79m (48' 6.25") and was sixth in the shot put (12.14m - 39' 10").
Mercado tallied fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.74m (41' 9.75") and was sixth in the weight throw (13.16m - 43' 2.25").
SeniorĀ
Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) recorded the lone victory on the women's side with first in the 400m in 1:03.51. She also competed in the 55m dash andĀ posted a time of 7.61 to lead the Rams.
Throwers
Ashley Toro (Bay Shore, N.Y.)Ā and
Madelyn Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) moved up the FSC all-time lists on Friday.
Toro's mark of 10.99m (36' 0.75") in the shot put moved her up to eighth in the record books, while Karman's personal-best throw of 11.99mĀ in the weight throw places her fifth all-time.
Finally, sophomore
Jada Pepanio (East Meadow, N.Y.) placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 4.70m (15' 5"), while freshman
Treesha Jayakody (Jamaica, N.Y.) earned second in the triple jump (9.70m - 31' 10").
Farmingdale State next competes at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday, February 9th at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
