STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. | Farmingdale State sophomore
Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was victorious in the pole vault at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday evening. He captured the victory in a school record height of 4.91m (16' 1.25") and has now won the event in all seven meets this season. Lourenco currently leads the Metro Region and is tied for ninth in the Nation with his mark.
The FSC men's indoor track and field team scored 40 points and finished in fifth place out of nine competing schools. Rowan earned a convincing victory with 297 points.
On the women's side, the Rams came in ninth, with TCNJ picking up the victory with 198 points.
After Lourenco's 10 points in the pole vault, sophomore
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) placed second in the triple jump for eight points. He posted a career-best mark of 14.22m (46' 8") and improved to third in the Farmingdale State record books. Bamfo also moved up to fifth in the region and 21st in the NCAA this season.
Junior
Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) registered fifth in both the long jump and 4x200m relay. He recorded a career-best 6.53m (21' 5.25") in the long jump and helped the relay, along with teammates senior
Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.), freshman
Tyler Miles (Huntington, N.Y.) and junior
Dontay Taylor (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), to a time of 1:32.13. Their time was just 0.12 seconds from becoming a top-10 mark in program history.
In the 4x400m relay, sophomores
Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.),
Tristan Socias (Uniondale, N.Y.) and
Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.), along with freshman
Daran Saul (Deer Park, N.Y.), came in fourth place in 3:27.67 to earn five points for the Rams.
Latimer also competed in the 400m dash and tallied a personal-best time of 50.51 for sixth place.
Freshman
Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) came in eighth in the shot put and picked up one point for the Rams. He tallied a personal-best mark of 13.86m (45' 5.75") and is now ninth all-time at Farmingdale State.
Senior
Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) also competed in the shot put and came in 11th with a toss of 12.83m (42' 1.25"). In addition, Wilks threw 15.27m (50' 1.25") in the weight throw for sixth place.
For the women, senior
Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) registered ninth in the 60m in 8.14, while senior
Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) took ninth in the mile in 5:44.57.
Freshman
Mishell Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) moved up the FSC record books with her mark in the 60m hurdles. She ran in 11.20 and is now seventh all-time.
The 4x400m relay team of
Precious Akahara (Valley Stream, N.Y.), Haynes,
Kaitlin Slattery (Merrick, N.Y.) and
Nicole Pickett (Uniondale, N.Y.) tallied fifth in 4:27.44 and earned four points. Their time is 10th all-time at FSC.
Finally, sophomore
Jada Pepanio (East Meadow, N.Y.) earned seventh in the long jump (4.93m - 16' 2.25") for two Farmingdale State points and freshman
Ashley Toro (Islip, N.Y.) recorded 11th in the weight throw with a season-best 10.91m (35' 9.5" - 8th all-time).
The indoor track and field teams next will compete in the Southern Connecticut State meet on Friday, February 23rd.
