RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday evening at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex. The Invite featured over 50 teams and included student-athletes from all three NCAA Divisions.
The FSC men were led by sophomoresÂ
Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.), who each earned a top-10 mark.
Lourenco was victorious in the pole vault for the fifth time this season, tallying a height of 4.80m (15' 9"). He beat 24 other competitors, with the runner-up finisher only reaching a height of 4.65m.
Bamfo placed eighth out of 46 in the triple jump as he recorded a length of 13.96m (45' 9.75"). He holds the fifth best mark in the Metro Region this season for the triple jump.
Senior thrower
Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) placed 16th and 20th in the shot put (13.46m - 44' 2") and weight throw (13.26m - 43' 6"), respectively. Wilks' toss in the shot put was a career-best and moved him into the #10 spot on the FSC All-Time list.Â
Sophomore
Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.) recorded a personal-best time of 50.90 in the 400m dash and came in 23rd out of 123 runners.
Junior sprinter
Dontay Taylor (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) competed in the 60m (7.31) and the 200m (23.43 - personal best) and placed 56th out of 122 and 73rd out of 121, respectively. Junior
Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.) ran in the same events and earned 58th (60m - personal-best 7.33) and 77th (200m - 23.52).Â
In addition, freshman
Steven Nataniel (Bay Shore, N.Y.) ran the 60m hurdles in a season-best time of 10.23.
On the women's side, freshman
Mishell Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) produced career-high's in both the 60m hurdles and the long jump. In the hurdles, she came in 45th in a time of 11.41, improving her #8 mark in the FSC record book. Delgado also tallied a season-best mark in the long jump of 4.49m.
Senior
Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) took 65th in the 800m in a season-best 2:30.48. She improved her time by over 19 seconds from last week.Â
Finally, freshman
Ashley Toro (Islip, N.Y.) earned 21st out of 54 in the shot put (10.28m - 33' 8.75") and was 35th out of 55 in the weight throw (10.74m - 35' 3").
The indoor track and field teams will next return to the Ocean Breeze Complex to compete at the NJAC Championship on Monday, February 19th.
