Rams Post Five Wins at Coast Guard Invite

RESULTS
NEW LONDON, Conn. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Coast Guard Academy Winter Invite on Saturday in New London, Connecticut.

The FSC men were led by the trio of sophomore Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.), senior Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.), and sophomore Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.).

Lourenco, who set the Farmingdale State College men's indoor track and field record in the pole vault in December, bested his own mark and cleared a height of 4.85m (15' 11") for first place. His height ranks seventh in Division III this season.

Wilks recorded a victory in the weight throw (15.60m - 51' 2.25") and was second in the shot put (12.72m - 41' 8.75"). His toss in the weight throw moved him into #8 on the FSC all-time list.

Bamfo led all jumpers with wins in both the long jump (6.18m - 20' 3.5") and triple jump (13.39m - 43' 11.25"). He currently ranks eighth in the Nation in the triple jump.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Daran Saul (Deer Park, N.Y.), Tristan Socias (Uniondale, N.Y.) and Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.) placed second out of six teams in 3:48.07.

Latimer also earned a runner-up finish in the 400m (52.75).

Freshman Dontay Taylor (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a spot in the finals of the 55m dash and came in sixth place in 6.76. He also competed in the 200m and placed 10th (24.30).

On the women's side, senior Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led the way with a win in the 200m and second in both the prelims and finals of the 55m. She ran the 200m in 27.37, nearly half a second faster than the runner-up. In the 55m, McNeil earned her spot in the final with a 7.59 in the prelims. She followed with a 7.55 in the final and now ranks fifth all-time in program history.

Freshman Gabrielle Cunningham (West Babylon, N.Y.) also competed in the 200m and came in fourth place in 29.78.

Freshman Ashley Toro (Bay Shore, N.Y.) placed sixth in the shot put (10.48m - 34' 4.75"), while junior Madelyn Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) earned seventh in the weight throw (10.92m - 35' 10").

Farmingdale State next heads to the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex for the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday, January 19th.
