Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Game 1: Manhattanville 9, Farmingdale State 0 (5 inn.)
Game 2: Manhattanville 2, Farmingdale State 0

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College softball team wrapped up regular season play Sunday afternoon, dropping a Skyline Conference doubleheader to visiting and conference-leading Manhattanville College on Senior Day by scores of 9-0 (5 inn.) and 2-0.

Prior to the contest, FSC honored six student-athletes as part of Senior Day ceremonies: catcher Amanda Arcese (Bellmore, N.Y.); outfielder Gia D'Andrea (Howard Beach, N.Y.); outfielder Giana Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.); center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.); pitcher/outfielder Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.); and first baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.).

Manhattanville (34-4, 18-0 Skyline) and Farmingdale State (23-10, 15-3), finalists in each of the last two Skyline Conference Softball Championships, have earned first-round byes into the 2023 edition of the tourney. The six-team championship gets underway with first-round play at home sites on Tuesday (May 9), with the Valiants and Rams starting play as the top-two seeds, respectively, when the four-team, double-elimination portion (May 11-13) commences on Thursday at Manhattanville in Purchase, N.Y. Update: Farmingdale State will open its championship play at 3 p.m. Thursday, against the winner of Tuesday night's (6) Mount Saint Vincent/(3) St. Joseph's-Brooklyn contest.

Game 1

An eight-run top of the third inning by the visitors was the difference, as the Valiants received a two-hit, two-walk performance in the pitcher's circle by Charli Shinstine, who moved to 19-0 on the year after recording six strikeouts.

Rivera provided Farmingdale State's best scoring opportunity in the bottom of the first, reaching on a fielder's choice before stealing second and third base in succession. The latter came as part of a double steal with junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.), who reached on a one-out walk, giving the Rams a pair of runners in scoring position. Freshman designated player Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) loaded the bases by reaching on a fielder's choice bunt in which the runners held, before Manhattanville retired the side.

FSC also threatened with a runner at second base in the second and third innings. Sophomore second baseman Alyssa Cowen (Garden City South, N.Y.) reached on a one-out fielder's choice before stealing second base in the former inning, before Capuano (one-out single) moved into scoring position on a two-out infield single by Walker in the third.

Stanya fanned six Valiants in complete-game effort in the circle for the hosts.

Game 2

FSC's Ava Shorr (So.; No. Babylon, N.Y.) and the Valiants' Emily Mottoshiski each scattered four hits in complete-game outings in the circle for their sides, with Manhattanville providing the only scoring on the contest with a two-run top of the first frame.

The hosts' top threat came in the bottom of the third stanza, when junior right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) reached a two-out infield single before stealing second base. Rivera moved Giliberti 60 feet from home plate with a single down the right-field line, before a line-drive snag at third base ended the inning.

Giliberti, Rivera, Stolfi and Cowen each recorded base-knocks for FSC, while Shorr struck out three.
