NEW HAVEN, Conn. | Sophomore
Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) set the Farmingdale State College men's indoor track and field record in the pole vault Saturday, as the Rams' teams competed in the two-day (Dec. 8-9) Art Kadish Elm City Challenge, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
Lourenco, competing in the pentathlon, cleared a height of 4.80m (15-9) to break Nick David's previous school record mark of 15-6, set in 2010. Lourenco's effort is also tied for sixth on the early-season
NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field performance list.
In addition to Lourenco's exploits, the FSC men's contingent collected a trio of top-two finishes, including second-place finishes by sophomores
Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.) and
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) in the 400-meter dash (52.00) and triple jump (14.19m; 46-6.75), respectively. Senior
