Rams Close Regular Season with Senior Day Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team (12-4, 4-2) closed out the regular season with a 25-1 victory over Mount Saint Vincent (1-14, 0-6) this afternoon.

The Rams honored 15 seniors prior to the game: Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.), Michael Primiano (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Ryan Corbett* (Plainview, N.Y.), Tom Rotanz (Wading River, N.Y.), Philip Morel (Massapequa, N.Y.), Dylan Bates* (Wading River, N.Y.), Eric Ammirati (Centerport, N.Y.), James Reiser (Melville, N.Y.), Brad Rapone (Roslyn, N.Y.), Kyle Carrick* (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Matthew Brendel* (Hicksville, N.Y.), Derrick Sherrod (Huntington, N.Y.), Dan Caliendo (Sayville, N.Y.), Conor Pittard (Setauket, N.Y.) and Matthew Pellizzi (Bohemia, N.Y.).

The men's lacrosse team also presented Farmingdale State College President Dr. Hubert Keen with a framed jersey and personalized stick to thank him for his hard work, dedication and success at Farmingdale.

Sophomore attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) scored the first two goals to quickly put the Rams ahead, 2-0. Junior attack Tyler Rifice* (Bohemia, N.Y.), Sherrod and Reiser added first quarter scores to give FSC a 5-0 lead after one.

After Mount Saint Vincent opened the second with a goal, the Rams responded with six unanswered goals to take an 11-1 advantage into halftime.

In the third quarter, Reiser, Rapone, and Mike Curry (Melville, N.Y.) each tallied one goal, while Rotanz scored a pair to put Farmingdale State on top, 16-1. The Rams outscored the Dolphins 9-0 in the fourth to earn the 25-1 senior day victory.

Cegielski totaled a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists, while Rotanz added three goals. Sherrod finished with a pair of goals and one assist and Rapone had two goals and caused two turnovers. Farmingdale State had 17 different players score in the win.

The Rams next will play in the Skyline Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, May 4th.
