Box Score

#1 Farmingdale State - 5, #4 NYU-Poly - 2

Farmingdale, N.Y. - With a 5-2 victory, the Farmingdale State men's tennis team advances to the Skyline Championship match on Saturday afternoon, facing #2 seed Mount Saint Mary College for the Skyline Title.

The Rams took a 2-1 lead in the doubles competitions with wins at #1 and #3 singles. Freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and junior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) posted a 9-7 victory in the top spot, while junior Judd Bahoui (Long Beach, N.Y.) and junior Bradley Smith (Mineola, N.Y.) won 8-3 in the third spot.

In singles play, Smith posted Farmingdale State's first win at #6 over Aliaksandr Ryzhko with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. NYU-Poly made it 3-2 with a win at #5, before Bahoui defeated Conor Dawson in the #4 match in a 6-3, 6-2 win.

That win would give the Rams a 4-2 advantage and they needed just one victory to advance with three matches still playing. Vijungco was leading over Massimo Boni and Musalo was ahead in the #2 spot over Chris Lysiuk, but senior Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) collected the final win, with a 7-5, 6-4 match defeating Connor Doherty.

The Rams (11-1) will be defending their 2012 Skyline Championship on Saturday, April 27th against the Knights (14-5). The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament.
