Flushing, N.Y. - The NYU-Poly men's tennis team edged Farmingdale State, the defending Skyline Champions, 5-4 in Wednesday night's Skyline opener at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Farmingdale is now 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the conference, while NYU-Poly improves to 3-0, 1-0 in Skyline play.
The Rams held the 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Wins were posted by the #1 singles tandem of sophomore Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.), along with the #3 doubles team of sophomore Steven Ferrantello (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and freshman Jimmy Lopez (Medford, N.Y.).
In singles competition, Farmingdale went 2-4 as they saw wins from #1 Vijungco (6-0, 6-3) and #5 Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Rams will now host Purchase College for another Skyline match on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m.
