Box Score Rams Fall in Close Match at Staten Island

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team lost a close match, 5-4, to Staten Island (6-4) on Saturday afternoon at the CSI Tennis Center in Staten Island, N.Y. The Rams (3-1) fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, but swept the Dolphin's fourth, fifth and singles players for three wins in singles play.
Those three wins at 4, 5 and 6 were posted by junior Theo Gioles (Wantagh, N.Y.), freshman Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) and senior Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y.).
The top 3 singles matches were hard fought matches, but Staten Island would come out on top. Freshman Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) lost the first set at #1 singles against Nick Zikos 7-5, but a 6-6 tie in the second set would force his tiebreaker match, eventually falling 7-4.
At 2nd singles, senior Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y.) fell to Patrick Thomas in a close 6-4, 6-4 match. At 3rd singles, sophomore Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) also lost 6-4, 6-4.
The Rams are set to host Yeshiva on Wednesday night, April 6th at 8:00 p.m. in a Skyline Conference match.
