Ellis Breaks Current Coaches School Record at Metro

Meet -
Manhattan, N.Y. - On Friday, January 7th,
Farmingdale State indoor track senior Qasim Ellis (Farmingdale,
N.Y./Farmingdale) won the Triple Jump in the Metro Coaches
Invitational at the New Balance Track & Field Center in
Manhattan, N.Y. Ellis leaped a school record 14.47m (47' 5 3/4"),
breaking his current coach Reggie Routier's previous record of 47'
5 1/4", which was set in 2007. This mark improves Qasim's National
qualifying mark.
Ellis also placed 8th in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.67m (21'
10 3/4"). Qasim was the top Division III athlete in the event.
Sophomore Corine Magee (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) placed 5th
in the 60m Dash "A" final with a time of 7.85. Corine was the top
Division III athlete in the event.
The Rams 35-pound Weight Throwers, sophomore Ed Brown (Bay
Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and junior John Roselle (Huntington Station,
N.Y./Walt Whitman), placed second and fourth, respectively, with
throws of 16.35m (53' 7 3/4") and 16.20m (53' 1 3/4"). Ed's throw
was 1 1/2" below his school record and John's throw moves him into
the #2 All-Time spot. This makes Ed and John the Top 2 throwers in
school history.
